It’s approximately 10 miles from West Hollywood to Venice Beach. Depending on traffic, you’re looking at 40 minutes to 1 hour with an Uber or Lyft.

West Hollywood Park is located at 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard, just over a mile southwest of 1 Hotel West Hollywood. Yes! Our West Hollywood hotel is only a mile northwest of the world-famous gay bar, The Abbey Food & Bar. It’s hard to believe that The Abbey initially started out as a small coffee shop back in 1991. Over the years, it’s expanded substantially to a 16,000-square-foot venue featuring four bars and a full menu until 2AM. Today, The Abbey is regarded as one of the best gay bars in the world and one of the most popular nightlife destinations in Los Angeles.

We get asked this question a lot, since 1 Hotel West Hollywood is very much a pet-friendly hotel. (Dog owners and pets alike especially love the fluffy dog beds we provide.)

This question should probably be, “What’s NOT in West Hollywood?” because everything you could possibly imagine can be found in WeHo.

To start with, the West Hollywood restaurant and bar scene is fantastic—especially along the Sunset Strip, which runs 1.6 miles along Sunset Boulevard from Crescent Heights Boulevard to Sierra Drive. It’s home to excellent boutiques and restaurants, as well as famous concert clubs like The Roxy, The Viper Room (which is now open for happy hour, 4pm-7pm), and Whiskey A Go-Go, and comedy hotspots The Comedy Store and Laugh Factory.

With WeHo being such a hotbed of creativity, there are dozens of local art galleries. Moran Bondaroff and Hamilton-Selway Fine Art are just two of the stand-outs. There are also the shops of Melrose Avenue, and the West Hollywood Design District, where “over 250 global merchants and creative leaders have chosen the walkable radius of Melrose Avenue, Beverly Boulevard, and Robertson Boulevard as their West Coast home.”

Local nearby attractions include the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre for the latest movie premieres, The Hollywood Bowl for the best in concerts, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the La Brea Tar Pits & Museum, the Getty Center, and the world’s most famous sidewalk: the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Just a few miles east of West Hollywood is Runyon Canyon, where you can hike the Hollywood Hills and get killer views of Los Angeles. And if you want to hit the famed LA beaches, Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach are all within 20 miles.

And of course, every October 31st, there’s the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval—one of the biggest Halloween celebration in the world. This annual public event takes place on Santa Monica Boulevard between North Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard, and features multiple entertainment stages, live music, bar specials, and some of the best people-watching you’ll ever experience.
