Summer has officially arrived,  providing the perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy nature, and throw together an impromptu picnic. If you’re looking for the perfect spot to enjoy the sun (or shade), look no further than one of Brooklyn’s many inviting parks. We’ve rounded up our favorites for you.

Prospect Park

Urban visionaries Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the mastermind-designers behind Central Park, also helped create Brooklyn’s beautiful Prospect Park. Go for an early morning run, or take the afternoon off and set up camp on Long Meadow, where you can watch birds and people alike. Keep in mind that Prospect Park also hosts Celebrate Brooklyn during the summer, an annual outdoor concert series.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park offers reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. Right on the Brooklyn waterfront, the park features attractions such as Jane’s Carousel, a restored 1920s merry-go-round, as well as riverside esplanades with stunning views of Manhattan. Pier 5, the first part of the park designed specifically for active recreation, offers sports fields and a playground, while nearby Pier 2 is home to basketball courts and a skating rink. The park offers a calendar full of summer events including free yoga classes, volunteer opportunities, and BBQs. Brooklyn Bridge Park also sets the scene for our new property, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, sprouting soon!

Fort Greene Park

Located  in the heart of the neighborhood, Fort Greene Park offers countless activities for the whole family, including playgrounds, movie nights, and designated workout areas. Every Sunday during the summer months, the park plays host to the Soul Summit Music Festival, where you can take in soulful house music all afternoon. Don’t forget that there’s more to see than meets the eye in this part of Brooklyn. Just a few short blocks away you can find some of the most storied restaurants and coffee shops in addition Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and A Mule studios.
