From the beginning, our vision has always been about more than building beautiful places. It has been about building a relationship with nature, with each other, and with the responsibilities we all carry. With the launch of Mission Membership, we are inviting our community even deeper into that purpose. This is more than a new program. It is a new kind of welcome.

A New Kind of Welcome

Mission Membership was born from a simple yet radical idea. What if every stay could give something back? What if travel, one of life’s great pleasures, could also help nurture the environment, support education, uplift our oceans, and strengthen communities in need? What if checking into a room felt like checking in with the planet?

We did not want another transactional system of tiers and points. The world has plenty of those. We wanted something more human, more intuitive, and more connected to why 1 Hotels exists in the first place. Hospitality should care for the world as generously as it cares for its guests. Mission Membership is that belief made tangible.

Why Mission Exists: Travel with Intention

Since opening our first sanctuary in 2015, we have designed every detail of 1 Hotels to keep us close to the natural world. Salvaged materials. Low-impact systems. Green rooftops and vertical gardens. Partnerships that restore ecosystems and support local agriculture. Mission is the natural evolution of that ethos. It is a way to turn individual stays into collective impact.

Where traditional programs reward frequency, Mission rewards intention. From the moment a guest joins, the relationship becomes personal and grounded in purpose. Members share a bit about who they are, how they sleep, what they savor, and what kind of experiences make them feel most at ease. From that point forward, we shape a stay that feels uniquely theirs.

Yes, there are comforts such as early check-in when available, late checkout, room upgrades, and thoughtful welcome moments. These are not the heart of Mission Membership. They are the hospitality around it. The heart is the belief that luxury and responsibility can elevate each other.

Partners in Action: Where Your Stay Goes Further

Around the world, individuals and organizations are working with intention to safeguard the places and ecosystems that sustain us. Mission members stand alongside them.

Each guest chooses a partner to support, and for every qualifying visit, we donate on their behalf, helping their impact grow in meaningful ways. Each partner offers a different path for good to take root:

Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC): Protecting wildlife, defending the climate, and giving voice to the species and spaces that cannot speak for themselves.

Oceanic Global: Preserving our blue planet through ocean stewardship, policy change, and community action that keeps our waters thriving.

Green Our Planet: Planting the seeds of environmental education by helping schools build gardens, outdoor classrooms, and hands-on connections to the earth.

Along with these core partners, every new Mission member also contributes to our commitment with the Arbor Day Foundation. Together, we plant a tree for each new signup and support ongoing efforts to restore communities affected by environmental loss, including the 100,000 trees we have pledged to plant in Southern California neighborhoods impacted by the 2025 wildfires.
